Today, Jihlavan delivers components for a number of domestic and international aircraft companies. Historically, it participated in producing aircraft that were developed in Czechoslovakia by companies like Aero Vodochody or Let Kunovice. A new chapter of the company and its further development has been opened by projects for Airbus, one of the two major aircraft manufacturers in the world.

L 159 ALCA

Dodavatel hydrauliky pro český bojový letoun Area Vodochody

The Aero L -159 ALCA (Advanced Light Combat Aircraft) is a Czech single-seat single-engine multipurpose light combat subsonic aircraft. The two-seat options L -1159T1 and L 159B are primarily designed for training and pilot fitness flights, but they can also be used as multipurpose light combat aircraft.

  • Unfortunately, the L159 project adopted an unsuitable marketing strategy and after an initial order of 72 aircraft for the Czech Army, no other business projects followed.
  • Recently, 16 aircraft have been sold to the American company Draken, which hires them out for training USAF military pilots.
  • Another undeniable success is the sale of 12 aircraft to the Iraqi army, where they have been used for a variety of purposes, including being deployed to fight the Islamic State.
  • In 2016, final aircraft OEM decided to resume production and offer to supply the L159 together with the L39NG aircraft.

At the end of 1990s, Jihlavan was selected by final aircraft OEM Aero Vodochody to be a supplier of most of the hydraulic power devices for the light combat L159 ALCA aircraft. The project was commercially supported by an order of 72 aircraft, placed by the Czech Ministry of Defense. The Czech Army has only been using 20 aircraft for their own needs, and Jihlavan provides them with a complete service, including deliveries of spare parts.
In 2014, Aero Vodochody sold 16 pcs of the unutilized army L159 aircraft to the American company DRAKEN and in 2016, they sold 12 unutilized aircraft to Iraqi air force.
